Here are some answers to common Reverse Vending questions we get asked.
Q, What is the power consumption of the machines?
A, Stand by: 40 W
A, Machines without compactor 400 W
A, Machines with compactor 1.600 W.
Q. Are reverse vending machines safe to use and what would happen if hands are accidentally (or deliberately) placed into the machine?
Question asked by : John Biggins - Senior Quality Advisor
A. Reverse Vending Machines have been used for over four decades; the technology within the machines is the highest technology currently available. The receiving aperture has
several strategically
placed internal sensors, the sensors detect movement and obstructions. The sensors would identify that an obstruction has occurred (in this case a hand or an arm) immediately shutting down the rotation of the rollers and illuminating a red warning light on the front panel alongside a text “warning of obstruction” on the led display.
The only moving parts in the aperture (The horizontal in-feed system) are rollers, so these could not actually damage limbs, however the above process ensures that this instance cannot even happen. The machines are fully tested and comply with all machine certification throughout the Globe.
The aperture (The horizontal in-feed system) is actually in a completely separate compartment from the cross cutting compactor, therefore limbs etc can never actually reach the compactor (which is also protected by several sensors).
Q. How many Reverse Vending Machines (RVM) are there in the World?
A. There are over 90,000 Reverse Vending Machines installed Worldwide
Q. How many of your machines are installed?
A. There are nearly 19,000 of our Reverse Vending Machines installed in Continental Europe.
Q. Are the RVM's noisy?
A. No, the noise level is 78 dB The decibel (dB) is used to measure sound level,( a further reduction to 68 dB
is achievable with a Noise Reduction Package)
Q. Is installation difficult?
A. No. All that is required is a standard 13 amp electric plug.
Avery IT technicians install and commission the reVend™ Reverse Vending machines
Clients are trained to familiarise them with reVend™ Reverse Vending Machines, free of charge for details of our extensive client care ,please contact us
Q, Can the machines be connected to a secure internet connection?
A, Yes, when the machines are ordered " to be online", then all that is needed is a socket and a standard telephone/ ISDN connection to automatically transmit recycling data.
Q.How many barcodes do the machines hold?
A.The memory is expandable, however the Reverse Vending Machines hold over 10,000 individual barcodes as standard.
Q. How many used beverage containers does an RVM accept?
A.
This depends upon the RVM model. The ‘stand alone’ reVend 300 & ReVend 360 will generally hold 1000 cans and/or PET bottles before needing to be .emptied .
Q.How much Energy do the machines use?
A. The machines use (aprox) 40 watts .Equating to aprox 15 pence (£Sterling) a day to run
Q. Does the RVM require regular maintenance.
A. No. The RVM requires very little maintenance. This is tried & tested technology, however, we recommend that clients enter into a maintenance agreement with Avery (see Partners) who install the RVM; provide a 24/7 maintenance service and monitor & collate the RVM recycling statistics.
